Arai Quantic Phoenix..
'A Russian Folk Art Custom Helmet'
Some commissions arrive with a clear brief and a lot of trust. This one came from Russian customer — a gift for a lady, phoenix themed, with traditional Russian folk art woven through the design. A lovely combination to work with.
The Arai Quantic was supplied new through the studio — if you're starting a custom paint project from scratch, a fresh shell always gives the best foundation. No previous finishes to contend with, no surprises under the surface.
The base is a deep metallic blue, shifting through cobalt and into rich violet as you move around the shell. Getting a metallic fade like that to sit smoothly takes time to get right — it's one of those techniques that rewards patience and a lot of practice. The colour has to feel like it belongs to the helmet rather than sitting on top of it
The phoenix dominates the crown and sides — wings spread wide, feathers rendered in burnt gold and amber, the metallic flake in the paint catching the light as the helmet moves. Around it, white and blush feathers drift across the shell, detailed linework that gives the design a softness to balance the main piece
The rear is where the Russian influence comes through most clearly. A crisp white panel frames a traditional Khokhloma-style botanical design — berries, leaves and curling stems in deep violet and black. Khokhloma is one of Russia's oldest decorative art traditions, originating in the 17th century, and it sits surprisingly naturally on a motorcycle helmet. The folk art grounds the design in something with real history and meaning.
This is full airbrush custom paint — no vinyl, no transfers, everything masked and painted by hand. It takes longer and costs more, but the finish is smooth, the detail is precise, and it lasts.
The customer was delighted. So were we.
