‘Custom Painted Shoei Glamster — 70s Blue Metallic Flake’

Painted this Shoei Glamster last year and never got round to posting it.

The Glamster’s shape already leans retro, so we ran with a full 70s theme: deep blue metallic base with a light flake through it, giving that old-school glint under light without tipping into anything too flashy. It’s the kind of finish that changes character depending on the light — flat and moody indoors, properly sparkling out in the sun.

Getting the flake to lay evenly on a curved shell like this takes patience — multiple clear coats to bed it in and keep the finish smooth to the touch, not gritty. Then it’s cut and polished to bring out the depth in the metallic.

Suits the Glamster down to the ground — it’s a helmet built for this kind of period-correct paint job, not modern graphics.
