‘Chris is one of those customers that became a friend’

At X-Paint, we believe every helmet should tell a story. And boy does this one tell a story. It should have been a straightforward and simple job but it was far from it, poor Chris couldn’t have sent us his helmet at a worse time.

A Tower moment

The design incorporates the Warner Brothers Tazmanian devil from the Loony Tunes cartoon series. This used to be a hugely popular design championed back in the day by Mr Steve Hislop amongst others. But its been a while since we painted it, so I was quite excited when Chris hit us with the job at the end of last year.

All did not go to plan

Just as X-Paint was really starting to take off at the end of 2024 we hit one of those bumps in the road that you just don’t see coming. We unexpectedly lost a key member of staff. And when we delved deeper we realised that there were major personal problems at play. It hit us very hard and suddenly we had a lot of fires to fight. Jobs hadn’t been done, equipment had not been maintained and projects we thought were under control such as the website, were far from under control. The person who left had a grievance and to this day we are none the wiser as to what it was.

Suddenly the job was on hold while we went into survival mode. Chris is not only one of the most patient and understanding customers that I have ever had. On top of which he had been through a very similar experience and was an absolute rock. I greatly appreciate the hour long phone calls and the advice, without which I am not sure we would have seen the other side. Thank you Chris.

The Custom Helmet Design

So when I finally got started on the helmet I knew it had to be a bit special. Chris wanted it to match his bike so the colours were set in stone, but apart from that we weren’t quite sure, we wanted Taz and we wanted a wirl wind, so in the end I just started free handing the design on the helmet and I think it came out OK. Chris likes it and it is one of my favourites for many reasons.
