ROYAL CORPS OF SIGNALS
‘Coincidentally the artist once served in the Royal Corps of signals in the early 1980’s, so this was a trip down memory lane’
So it was our pleasure to supply and paint this Arai Quantic for our first military customer in some years, I used to do quite a few military style Simpson bandits back in the day. Arai’s work just as well and you can see the full range of Arai in the online shop. Arai is not the only brand we supply, if you do not see what you are looking for send a message as we are still updating the shop with product.
Design:
I always recommend a box fresh white helmet for a new paint job, so we were happy to supply this Arai. The customer wanted a “lest we forget” themed helmet paying tribute to his Corps the Royal Corps of Signals.
The reference and visuals supplied were images that we had seen before, glowing orange skies, shilouttes of helicopters and soldiers with a few giant poppies that seemed randomly stuck on. There is nothing wrong with these designs but everyone seems to be working to the same theme.
When the helmet hit the front of the queue the customer put his faith in us to come up with a unique design that ticked all the boxes, but still suited the helmet and its purpose.
Real custom paint.
Everything you see is painted and we get the helmet as smooth as possible so that there are none of those nasty edges that ruin a design when you get up close. These helmets last. I still have a race helmet from the early 2000’s that just needs a polish to shine despite being thrown into the back of the garage. But don’t take my word for it, check out some of our racers who are into the second season of racing with a helmet that still looks brand new.
The design for this helmet really did come from the heart. As an ex serving soldier in The Royal Corps Of Signals I just designed my perfect “signals helmet”. I even put the name on the helmet last just in case the customer didn’t like the design, I too am medium and I need a new Arai. Thankfully with a splash of sadly, our customer was very happy with the result, so are we, the pictures do not do it justice as we layered pearl upon white pearl, it looks lush but you just cannot get a good picture of it.
