‘X-Paint recently completed this design for our factory rider ruben Bray.

Up and coming  racer Ruben Bray is the son on one of our old racing buddies and one of the quickest ten year olds on tarmac in the UK. So when Dan (Dad) approached us for some support we could hardly say no. We nicknamed Ruben “The Brave” as he is certainly that, he pushes the front end hard and is always up for a race. 21/22 has been a tough year for Ruben, a broken femur bone after a nasty crash whilst leading the British Mini Bikes Ohvale series at the end of 2021 meant that Ruben had to sit out the last few rounds of the championship while watching the massive lead in points that he had achieved slowly disappear.

 Ruben was already sporting an X-Paint custom painted Arai for 2021. We wanted to give him a lift for this year so supplied a new Bell Star painted in a new design. Rubens design has a nod to the old Scott Russel (WSB) design and incorporates many native American symbols.

We always use a very bright neon yellow base coat for Ruben with a neon orange overlay, we make his name a big feature of the design, we think it is a striking colour combination. A condition of Ruben’s sponsorship is that we control the design process, so it is always fun surprising him with a new design.

2022 has been a tough year for Ruben whilst recovering from his broken leg, he has been racing in the Cool Fab series aboard a Metrakit and as much as the lap times are pretty much where they were before the races have not unfolded in his favour. That’s racing!  

Everything on the helmet is either painted or airbrushed we don’t use any decals in our paintwork, we stick to old school custom paint techniques. So there was a fair bit of masking involved in this design

As with all our designs we focussed on Ruben’s job from start to finish, we don’t run a production line each helmet takes up 100% of our focus for the duration of the work required.
