‘Spitfire’s And CCM’s!’

 The second spitfire helmet that I have done for a CCM owner. Really enjoy doing these, the reference is taken from an old masters oil painting but there are loads of great spitfire images online, everything from model box artwork to comic strips and lots of fine art in between. There is no shortage of fresh reference  so if any CCM owners are reading this and want a custom lid to match their bike then they have landed on the right page.

Airbrush Artwork:

The process that I use to create the artwork is as old school as it gets, I use a combination of freehand airbrush, paper stencils and a bit of masking tape, this is not a sticker, it involves quite a bit of paint and lots of colour changes and cleaning of the airbrush. It can be quite time consuming, especially if it decides to go wrong and one needs to make a repair or correction. The end product is a genuine painting, a little work of art if you will and a tip of the hat to the original artist.

 Nothing gives me greater pleasure thatn when a customer approaches with a bit of an ideas and leaves it with us to create a bit of a surprise, that is how I like to work and judging by recent reactions the customers of X-Paint seem to really enjoy the process.

Of course we can do race paint if you need something super cost effective and turned around quickly, but the majority of my work is proper custom paint.

What does that mean? It means everything is painted and we get the helmet as smooth as possible so that there are none of those nasty edges that ruin a design when you get up close.

It also means that the helmets last. I still have a race helmet from the early 2000’s that just needs a polish to shine despite being thrown into the back of the garage.
